Our 6th annual Birkett Long £50 Challenge got underway today as more than 35 teams from local businesses collected their start-up £50 note, generously donated by local solicitors Birkett Long LLP.
Between Thursday 1st June and Saturday 30th September the teams will use teamwork, innovation and creativity to turn it into much money as possible, and all money raised is then donated to the hospice. Teams can still register to join in the challenge.
Since its inception in 2012, the Birkett Long £50 Challenge has raised more than £200,000 for St Helena Hospice. Last year, the teams which took on the challenge collectively raised more than £45,000 for the hospice.
David Cant, Partner and Director of Business Development at Birkett Long LLP, was at the launch meeting this year’s teams. He said:
“Birkett Long believes in supporting the local community. St Helena Hospice is something which we have a close attachment with and have had over many years and we’re very hopeful we can continue supporting it for many years to come. It’s a charity we’re very passionate about as a firm and individuals within the firm. Good luck to everyone taking part, let’s make it a bumper year!”
Sarah Wilson, Corporate Fundraising Partnerships Manager at St Helena Hospice, said: “The Birkett Long £50 Challenge is a fantastic opportunity for local businesses to support their local hospice in helping local people with an incurable illness to live well and die with dignity and choice. We would like to thank Birkett Long for their fantastic continued support of the hospice and our thanks also goes to all the participants.
“The challenge provides the perfect platform to promote your business and gives you a chance to network with other participating companies. It helps to enhance your business profile as you engage with your suppliers and customers during the challenge.
“Every year the teams involved in this inspiring and creative team building exercise, use their entrepreneurial skills to develop and deliver innovative and fun ways to raise money to get as much return back from the £50 as possible.”
