Enjoy the sea air and fantastic atmosphere by starting at either Clacton Pier or Walton Pier and walking 7 miles to the other pier, or challenge yourself by walking 14 miles there and back - the choice is yours!
You'll be joining hundreds of people on Sunday 7th April walking at their own pace along the promenade.

Everything you need to know for Pier to Pier on Sunday!
The walk takes place along the sea wall and the promenade between Clacton and Walton, with walkers starting at both piers.
Please sign in at the registration desks when you arrive; these are located at the front of both piers. You will be given a registration card which you need to hand in when you reach the end of your walk - this is so that we know you have completed the walk safely.
Each route starts at either Clacton or Walton Pier on the seafronts and are 7 miles if you walk one way or 14 miles if you have chosen to walk both ways. If you change your mind on the day, please let our registration team know when you sign in. There will be a greeting team to meet you and present your medal, whichever end you choose to finish.
Important route information
Sea wall repairs at Holland-on-Sea – closed promenade
Please be aware, the route is part of the public highway and currently part of the sea wall is being repaired and is closed off for access along the promenade, therefore marshals and signage will direct you as follows:
There is another small section on the walk where you will need to leave the sea wall and go up to the promenade to come back down. This will be clearly signposted and marshalled on the day.
There is a memory stop on the route at beach hut number 641 approximately a 30 minute walk from Walton Pier, where those walking in memory have the opportunity to meet some of our team and place a message on the memory tree.
There will also be a memory board at both Clacton and Walton piers for those remembering their loved one to write a message before you leave for your walk.
If you will be thinking about someone as you walk, you may like to download this 'I'm walking Pier to Pier for...' sign to print and decorate or write a message on it, and wear on the day. These will also be available at the registration desk on Sunday.
Please note, there is no car parking on site at either Pier. Please park where possible in local nearby roads or visit www.tendringdc.gov.uk/travel-a... for local car parks in both Clacton and Walton. Local car parks are likely to have a chargeable fee.

The British weather can be very unpredictable. We suggest that you check the weather forecast and dress appropriately, including comfortable footwear suitable for the walking. And remember your sun screen!
Welfare and safety
Public toilets are situated close to both Clacton and Walton Piers and there are public toilets along the route. Water and cereal bars are available free of charge at both the start and finish areas. First aid is provided by the British Red Cross and emergency contact details for first aid and the event team will be issued to you when you sign in.
In case of wet weather or high tides, the walk way can become slippery, so please take care during the walk and keep away from the edge of the sea wall. Please ensure that you do not drop litter during the walk, and use the bins provided.
We welcome dogs taking part in the event providing you are sure they are fit enough to walk 7 or 14 miles, and providing they are not listed under Section 1 of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 (amended 2014). All dogs must be kept on a lead during the walk and owners are fully responsible for them and for clearing up dog waste. Please bring extra water for your furry friend.
We are delighted we can offer participation in the Pier to Pier walk completely free of charge. All we ask is that you try to raise a minimum of just £30 in sponsorship.
Your £30 sponsorship could pay for nursing staff to respond to three SinglePoint calls giving support and expert advice to patients and their families, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The person who raises the most sponsorship and returns it to St Helena's Fundraising office by 7th May will win an afternoon tea, kindly donated by the Kingscliff Hotel, Holland-on-Sea.
