Hope Together Appeal

St Helena Hospice urgently needs your help so more local people can die well, with the comfort and dignity they deserve, in the place of their choice.

We believe everyone in our community deserves the dignity and comfort they hope for at the end of their life. Nobody should die alone, in pain or afraid.

Linda and Alison’s mum, Josephine, knew exactly what she wanted when it came to her death:

“She wanted everything to be as straightforward and emotionally painless as it could be and she wanted to die at the hospice. She knew she would be looked after there so the onus wouldn’t be on us; she was always thinking of us.”

The family made many treasured and happy memories and moments during Josephine’s stay, and their worries were taken away; but the sisters know not everyone is so lucky.

“St Helena Hospice can’t change the inevitable, they couldn’t have taken mum’s diagnosis away, but they did everything possible to help her spend her final days where and how she wished. More people like our mum deserve to be cared for where they wish, with the comfort and respect they hope for, right to the end of their life.”
