Walk to Remember

West Mersea

10th October - 10th October

Event information

The last 18 months have been a trying and difficult time for us all, and many of us have not been able to grieve the death of a loved one or stop to reflect on the times and memories we shared together.

That is why, for our first fundraising event since the easing of Covid-19 restrictions, we want to give our supporters the time to remember.

Our Walk to Remember event will be starting and finishing on the scenic beachfront in West Mersea. Here you will have the opportunity to write the name of a loved one, or a message to them on one of our memory windmills. The windmills will then be planted side by side in the sand as we take the time to remember those no longer with us.

After planting the windmills, you will then have the option to walk either a 1 or 5 mile route around West Mersea. This short walk is your time to reflect and remember the people who are important to you or simply take in the stunning scenery West Mersea offers.

There is the option to take part virtually for our supporters who don’t wish to join us on the day in West Mersea. Choosing this option will allow you to start and finish your walk at a time and location that suits you between Sunday 10th and Saturday 16th October. You will also receive the same memory windmill to dedicate to your loved one(s).

Registration costs £5 and we ask that participants try to raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship. Raising this amount could help St Helena Hospice provide ten families in distress with expert advice and guidance over the phone from our 24/7 SinglePoint advice line.
