Stream for St Helena

5th August - 30th September

Event information

What is it?

Stream for St Helena is a way for gamers, streamers, and content creators to support local people facing incurable illness and bereavement by engaging with their community to raise money via a sponsored live stream.

As part of our Time to Remember campaign, this Autumn, we want you to play and stream the games of your childhood. We all have that one game that holds nothing but happy memories, and we want to celebrate those memories with a throwback stream!

Whether it's Pac-Man or Pong, Halo 3 or Mario Kart Wii why not dust off your controller and jump back in for old time sake.

How it works

Tips & tricks

Whether you're a seasoned pro or a streaming newbie, here are some things to consider before you go live:

Date and time

The more viewers you have, the more likely you are to achieve your fundraising goal! We suggest streaming in the evening and on weekends to maximise viewership.

Encouraging donations

Give your viewers a reason to donate. This can be done in lots of ways, but here are some ideas:

  • Set yourself a challenge in-game. This will vary based on the game you choose, but why not challenge yourself to win 10 games in a row, or in an hour! This is a great way to keep your audience engaged.
  • Interact with your chat and reward donors while you stream by letting them pick the next song, set you a challenge, or join you for your next game!
  • Start a gaming marathon! Challenge yourself to a 12-hour or 24-hour stream; this is another excellent way to keep viewers engaged.
  • Set forfeits or challenges for every fundraising milestone. Would you brave the shave for a £500 donation?

Let your viewers know the difference they are making

£23 could pay to provide pain management and symptom relief for a patient, along with emotional support and advice for their family with a visit from a Hospice clinical nurse specialist

£50 could pay for the care and support a family in crisis needs in the depth of night with a visit from a SinglePoint nurse in their home.

£100 could pay for 8 hours of comfort, personal care and company from a healthcare assistant to patients at The Hospice.

£200 could help 8 patients to return home to their loved ones after a stay at The Hospice, being supported by a nurse to help get their pain under control.
