We reach out to people facing incurable illness to help them make their own choices and to live with dignity by visiting and supporting them in their homes. We offer individual care and total support, regardless of diagnosis or personal circumstances across North Essex.
Our services exist to complement and not replace other local health and social care providers such as GPs, community nurses and social services. To help people to stay at home, every member of the wider community team will play an important role. Our 24/7 SinglePoint helpline service can offer advice and help coordinate between these different services.
We help people plan for what sort of care they might like and where they may like to be cared for. Being able to be open and share these views with family and friends and with the professionals involved in an individual’s care can make staying at home more possible. We use the My Care Choices Register to achieve this.
Without the help and generosity of our fundraisers and donors we wouldn’t be here. One in five of the local people we support is funded by people who leave a gift to St Helena in their will.
Our expert St Helena community nurses (known as CNS) will visit when pain or symptoms are proving difficult to control or if there are complex emotional, social or spiritual needs. When required, members of our other professional teams can also visit to provide additional clinical, emotional, practical and spiritual advice and support.
Our rehabilitation team can provide a detailed assessment of needs and offer support to help people stay as independent as possible and to promote quality of life. This includes advice on managing getting around and day to day activities.
For those unable to attend our Day Therapies centres we offer a range of complementary therapies in the home to support individuals who are facing stress and anxiety because of their illness.

SinglePoint is a 24/7 advice and support helpline which helps to coordinate an individual’s care with the hospice. SinglePoint also works alongside other healthcare services such as GPs, Community Nurses or Specialists.
