We offer bereavement support to children, either individually or as a family group. We also help provide information and advice to families and schools in how to support children following the loss of a parent or grandparent.
If you would like to access any of our Bereavement Support services either now or in the future, please do not hesitate to contact our Bereavement Team on 01206 984274. You can also refer yourself or your children online.
We provide advice, information and consultation to bereaved families and other professionals involved in supporting bereaved people, families and children. We offer a bereavement assessment to the whole family, as we are aware that a significant death will impact on each member. Following an assessment we mutually agree on what support would be best in each family’s circumstances.
Without the help and generosity of our fundraisers and donors we wouldn’t be able to offer our Bereavement Support to the local children and families who need it. We offer a number of ways that people can donate in memory of a loved one to help us to continue this support.
Our STARS (Sharing, Talking and Remembering Someone Special) activity days help children and families cope with the death of a parent or special person in their lives. They enable young bereaved families to meet other families, and have an opportunity to talk about their experience alongside enjoying outdoor bush-craft activities in a local wood. The day is run three times a year and is open to families who have been bereaved for at least three months.
Starbursts is our monthly drop-in bereavement support group for young bereaved families. It enables children to meet children, teenagers to meet teenagers, and parents to meet parents in similar situations. There is an opportunity to remember the person who has died through a range of creative activities alongside having fun and making friends. We recommend attendance approximately 3 months after the death.
We also offer creative therapy and support which enables children and young people to express their thoughts and feelings whilst using different creative mediums, such as art, storytelling, puppets, music and toys.
