Our chaplain Vickie, and occupational therapist Denise have created a series of mindfulness videos that you can do at home. Mindfulness and meditation have been proven to be a helpful tool for stress reduction and increased mental focus; both of which are challenging for us all in these current circumstances.
You can watch these meditation videos on our Youtube playlist by clicking here.
Our chaplaincy team are also working in collaboration with St Elizabeth Hospice to produce a weekly Sunday service and a new video is available each week on a Youtube playlist here.
Our rehab team have put together some chair based exercises you can do at home.
Participation is at ones' own risk. If you have any pain or feel unwell stop exercising and immediately and seek medical advice.
We provide a range of individual care for local people facing incurable illness at our Day Therapies centres. This includes outpatient clinics, one to one support and a flexible programme of peer group sessions.
The aim of our Day Therapies is to help people regain confidence and independence through reablement, rehabilitation, education and friendship. The services we offer are delivered by our expert health and social care professionals and supported by our generous volunteers.
We are fortunate to have well equipped treatment and therapy rooms, a salon, bathing facilities, and rooms for arts and crafts. We also have activity rooms and equipment to support reablement and rehabilitation.
All of our Day Therapies rely heavily on the help and generosity of our supporters. In some cases, a contribution from people accessing our Day Therapies may be requested and we are always grateful for donations to help us continue providing our care and support.
Clinic appointments are available at our Day Therapies centres for those requiring expert advice from our doctors, nurses and other professionals. These focus on complex physical, emotional and spiritual needs.
We provide a number of groups which offer support, education and provide self-management strategies. For example, our Breathlessness Service which offers both groups and clinics to enable people to manage and cope with breathlessness and fatigue.
We provide a range of complementary therapies to support individuals who are facing stress and anxiety because of illness. Our treatments are provided by a team of qualified professional therapists and are adjusted to suit each person’s needs.
