Visiting The Hospice
We do not have specific visiting hours. The Hospice is a pleasant and relaxed place and visitors are welcome at any time, but please do not visit if you have a heavy cold or stomach upset.
The interests of those staying with us come first and we would ask you to be sensitive and considerate to them during your visit.
Dining with us
The dining room is open for lunch and supper. There is a charge for visitors’ meals and please order supper before 4.30pm (Monday – Sunday) and lunch before 10am (weekends). There is no need to order lunch on weekdays.
Tea and coffee making facilities are always available. Personal food for patients may be stored in the fridge in the dining room but please ensure it is clearly labelled with the date and individual’s name.
Travelling to our sites
St Helena is working in partnership with the Colchester Travel Plan Club to encourage and support staff and visitors to explore other options for travelling to our Myland Hall site, as an alternative to driving. This is part of our commitment to help promote sustainable travel as a way of reducing traffic congestion and air pollution.
Directions to The Hospice, Joan Tomkins Centre (for Day Therapies) and Learning and Development Centre CO4 9JU
These buildings are just a short walk away from local bus stops, including the central bus stops behind Tesco Highwoods.
There is an open bike shed outside our Myland Hall site located next to the Joan Tomkins Centre. You can download the Colchester Cycle map from the Cycle Colchester website, where you can also find useful information to help and support cyclists.
For up to date information about bus services to our nearest stop, Barncroft Close bus stop on Eastwood Drive, please click on the link Plan your journey | Traveline.
The nearest station is Colchester North Station. You can plan your journey to Colchester North station on the Greater Anglia website. It is an approximate 25 minute walk from Colchester station to our Myland Hall site. You can catch a bus from the station or taxis are available, again we suggest Traveline Plan your journey | Traveline.
If you have to travel by car, could you car share with colleagues, friends or relatives?
We have limited parking at our Myland Hall site, but specific disabled and patient / visitor’s parking bays are available. We politely ask all visitors to be respectful to our neighbours and only park considerately in safe areas on Eastwood drive, if no parking bays on site are free.
